howdy!! i’m hannah velasco

but here i go by hanny (hence “art by hanny,” although i’m aware the user reads "artbyhanXny"... “hanny” was taken ☹) i’m a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in san bernardino county, southern california. 

what is multidisciplinary about my artistry? well i’m glad you asked, the mediums i work with are: oil and acrylic painting (i’ve tried watercolor and gouache i don’t understand it), linoleum and block printing, charcoal, and pastels. i started out as a painter so it shows up in all areas of work, mixing and matching!

as of Spring 2025, i hold an Associate of Arts in Studio Arts degree from Crafton Hills College, and i am now pursuing my Bachelor’s in Studio Arts at California State University - San Bernardino. at CSUSB i started and get to be the president of a club called Arts Advocates! i’m also the Administrative and Outreach Specialist at Arts Connection, a nonprofit serving San Bernardino County.

i’ve been painting since i was in middle school (those first painting were… something) and i started selling my work at art markets with my cousin @claymarketshop since 2021. creating work to sell, for my classes, or just for me is a dream come true, really. i didn’t believe i could make a career as an artist but here i am! 

inspiration shows up for me in many ways: through music, moments shared with friends and family, artworks by artists like Artemisia Gentileschi, Fransisco Goya, or Diego Velázquez, local artists/creators, nature, and whatever i’m going through at the time. on the VERY rare occasion i write poetry that i like to create visuals for.

in my free time i’m usually eating out with friends (there’s more laughing than eating though), playing minecraft or unravel two with my husband, reading and journaling, sleeping in which is a luxury i fully embrace, ESPECIALLY after a long night of making art, and traveling!!

milo is normally playing outside or sleeping on my bed, but every now and then he gets curious on what i’m creating and either sits on my desk or my lap while i create. he’s also a menace and has spilled MANY paint water cups, but i still love him loads! <3
